Most people know that Salem was made famous because of the witch trials conducted in 1692-1693. When we decided to throw a ball around in a large park near the Salem Witch Museum, we saw a stone marker that predated even that long ago event. In 1637, the Massachusetts Militia conducted its first trainings, which eventually grew into the National Guard of the United States of America. So much history everywhere!
