Gettysburg, PA

The 160th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg was July 1-3, 2023.  We got to visit on July 2nd.  It was cool to see the visitors' center with tons of Civil War artifacts, an impressive movie, and a "cyclorama" that was made for the World Fair.  The cyclorama is like a life-sized diorama with real scenery in front fading off to the painting of the distant background.  The lighting and audio presentation walked us through the 3-day battle.  A highlight of the museum was a ceiling where a cannon ball had blasted through the beams overhead.  We walked through the cemetery where Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address.  My brothers had memorized it and performed it near the spot where Lincoln may have stood when he delivered the speech.
